AMD Central was developed to help patients and caregivers more easily find resources about AMD. It is our hope that with this knowledge, people impacted by the disease can take ownership of their eye condition and begin to change the way they manage their health and wellness.

American Macular Degeneration Foundation
The American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF) is a non-profit organization committed to improving the lives of those affected by Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) through research, education, advocacy, and direct response to individuals requesting information. The organization raises public awareness of the disease while funding a results-oriented, national research agenda which makes allies of the scientific community, the government, other mission-aligned nonprofits, and people and their families who are living with AMD.
Proper nutrition can help reduce the risk of AMD development and progression. “Food for Sight” provides helpful information about how to create an eye-healthy diet, including recipes for you and your loved ones to test out at home.
The BrightFocus Foundation funds exceptional scientific research worldwide to defeat macular degeneration, glaucoma and Alzheimer’s disease, and provides expert information on these heartbreaking diseases. They are a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States and are working to save mind and sight.
Macular Degeneration Support (MD Support) is a world-wide non-profit public service organization founded by retired educator Dan Roberts. Its mission is to provide information and support for people who are affected by macular degeneration and similar retinal diseases. It is based on the Internet and also offers a public awareness program designed to reach people who are without Internet access. The founder and most of the organization’s volunteers are visually-impaired themselves. Their work is supported and guided by a 17-member advisory board made up of leading professionals in the field.
Prevent Blindness has become the nation’s leading volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and preserving sight. They elevate this mission through public and professional education, advocacy for change, empowering individuals, and improving systems of care. Focused on promoting a continuum of vision care, Prevent Blindness touches the lives of millions of people each year.
Focus on Eye Health National Summit: Our Changing Vision – July 14-15, 2021

The 10th Annual Focus on Eye Health National Summit is a key venue to elevate the national dialogue among diverse stakeholder groups around vision and significant population health issues, and allows participants to develop new collaborations, integrate new vision health messages and procedures into their outreach, and improve lines of communication with internal and external partners.
The SupportSight Foundation’s (TSSF) mission is to save sight for millions of people who suffer from Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and lose their precious vision. As a 501 (c)3 public charity, their goal is to provide patient education and access to low vision resources to help individuals, families, and caregivers whose lives are severely impacted by AMD.
TSSF places a high priority on connecting with people, their families and loved ones who live with the daily struggle of impaired vision. The organization funds innovative vision research projects conducted by top scientists in the field who are on a path to discover effective new tools, technology, and treatments for people with vision loss.
